Carolyn! ...You're right on the money there Sis. Carolyn! The Stono Rebellion in my own home state, not far from where my grandmother's house still stands, is a perfect example of everything you just said.

"I've never understood their arrogance to allow folks that they treated lower than their pets to prepare their food. "

Arrogance is right! I know a lot of people didn't like "The Help," but that shit-pie was right up there with the ground glass! Now WE, OTH, have a problem, not with arrogance -- but too much trust! You think they all magically forgot that, "lower than pets thing?" I don't (which is probably why I eat in -- wa-a-ay more than I eat out! :-D

If I do, I will. You take care too!DebChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02018798227792356966noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8178687658619226992.post-20184885426658014692013-01-04T21:43:46.245-06:002013-01-04T21:43:46.245-06:00I read the Jared Ball post link on the movie and h...I read the Jared Ball post link on the movie and he also made some good points. If one reads "The Slave Narratives", there were many rebellions and although there were overseers like Jackson's character; there were many who did collude with the field slaves. Warned them of things about to go down and many fled with the field slaves based on information they overheard in the big house. There was an affliction that many of the slave holders had that they attributed to symptoms mimicking TB. Finely ground glass in the food may have been the culprit as well. I've never understood their arrogance to allow folks that they treated lower than their pets to prepare their food.

If you go see it let me know what you think. Carolyn...I know right?? Finally, integrity and self-respect wins A day!

I've not seen the movie yet Sis, so I can't fairly offer a take. All I know is, when I first saw that trailer, something deep in my gut said, "What the hayell?!" And then I saw a videotaped interview with Tarantino (never saw, nor wanted to see any of his movies) and was further annoyed at his hubris as he talked about what we need. As I said to Bro. Asa yesterday, hegemony is so over-rated. They call something "great," so we feel we need to call the same thing "great" (even when it might not be, or clearly isn't -- smdh). Not having seen it, I can only say now, that my gut pretty much agrees with Jared Ball here:

http://www.voxunion.com/5-quick-points-against-django-unchained-because-its-not-worth-6/

I did check out the site though. Interesting piece, with some good points, especially the "voiceless props!" Now that one was dead-on -- and priceless!

I still don't know if I even want to see this thing. Maybe this weekend, maybe not. Peace...DebChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02018798227792356966noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8178687658619226992.post-73028522172125069192013-01-04T15:15:11.701-06:002013-01-04T15:15:11.701-06:00You go..Boateng! I'd be interested in what your take is on the movie and the controversy.

http://www.msafropolitan.com/

Peace...Carolyn Moonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15668984508382392168noreply@blogger.com
