Don't know about the slurs, but here's a DC brother I read sometimes who happened upon the signs and such: http://www.averagebro.com/2010/03/ab-goes-to-teaparty-accidentally.html
Having been spat upon by white, Southern boys myself growing up, I don't doubt that it did happen. One thing's for sure, the signs were real.
It doesn't really matter whether it was a plant or a protester does it? Freedom of speech - or some insane strategy - notwithstanding, it's just a very sad commentary on how far we've supposedly come.
Deb, this is an old friend from your Key West days. You sound so angry.
Let me just offer this: People have been the same since the dawn of time. People who hate are always going to find a reason to do so, and that ain't never gonna change. If the skinheads could eliminate all the folks they hate, they'd simply find another target. If radical muslims were able to eliminate every single infidel, they'd only find somebody else within their own circle to hate. I believe the world is filled with more good people than wicked and evil, but the wicked and evil just seem to carry a lot more extra weight about with them. At the end of the day, most folks are just too damned tired to hate anyone. At least that's what I like to believe.
Pete...You'll have to help me remember, but welcome.
As for me sounding so angry - it'll soon be seven years since I left Key West and trust me, I was angry then too. But back then, there were more than a few moments of clarity, accountability and acceptance there, that allowed me to frequently squeeze in my share of "happy" - can't say I feel the same where I sit, here in 2010.

I can't tell. Hell, I don't even like the guy, but given all the hate-filled, racist shit at the Tea Party link in the post, not to mention all that has been spewed over the past year since he was selected that tends to spill over on plenty of us who look like him - I beg to differ with you.
Maybe when more "good people" speak up and stop being complicit with the "wicked and the evil" - I'll be less angry.
Drop in anytime (in the meantime, I'll be racking my brain to remember who you are!).

The wingers say it didn't happen, and, if it did, it was done by planted Democrats.
Can't make this stuff up.
