I'm back -- and full!

I came back mid-morning on Sunday from my two-week, road trip, from the "Belly of the Beast" where I now live, to my home in South Carolina, where the first battle of the Civil war was fought.  And, Chirrun, let me tell you! -- this trip provided wa-a-a-y more than enough time for me to ponder Thomas Wolfe's:
"You can't go back home to your family, back home to your childhood ... back home to a young man's dreams of glory and of fame ... back home to places in the country, back home to the old forms and systems of things which once seemed everlasting but which are changing all the time – back home to the escapes of Time and Memory."
After sleeping for a day and a half (I drove straight back home, just as I'd driven straight there), I finally felt like myself on Tuesday evening -- but I couldn't write.  I'm s-o-o-o full right now -- I just have to sit with it, before I let it all out.  So please, bear with me.

Right now, I'm sitting here watching -- "Beah: A Black Woman Speaks" -- on the Documentary Channel.  It's like somebody just knew that deep down inside, I needed that. If you're in any way, "mushy 'bout my people" like me, and you get a chance, to watch it -- Do!!

From Beloved -- Beah Richards as Baby Suggs Holly, sermon on the rock in the woods, in what is known as a circle shout:

Sometimes life -- just knows what you need...

Let me be the 1st to welcome you back!!! I have been peeking in hoping that you'd post soon but I understand you do have a life separate from your blog! Your son is handsome! But i'm sure you know that. lol..Anyhoo, I've seen the Beah Richards doc before and I loved it & what struck me was how paranoid those in 'power' are & just writing/reciting a poem resulted in Ms. Richards being investigated by the FBI. Like, really? Anyway, she had such dignity and grace. Will be greatly missed. I also love Lisa Gay Hamilton & unfortunate you don't see her at all anymore. At least I haven't. Anyway, great to 'see' you back. Peace

Mau...Thanks for the welcome back -- and the comment on the son! Yeah, I do have a life, separate from the blog, but not as much as I thought -- because it's all intertwined (cuz I tend to get caught the hell up!).

I've seen the Beah Richards doc before too, but since I've been trying to wean myself off of the regular mainstream, TV bullshit, I usually tune to that channel or NATGEOWILD (Cesar Milan is the shit!!). However, the doc was a much-needed and just, right on time grounding for me as I try to work through my at-home experiences over the last couple weeks, for real...

"...what struck me was how paranoid those in 'power' are & just writing/reciting a poem resulted in Ms. Richards being investigated by the FBI. Like, really? "

Yeah really -- and it's not changed for the better (though plenty of my folk can't, or won't see it).

"Anyway, she had such dignity and grace. Will be greatly missed. I also love Lisa Gay Hamilton & unfortunate you don't see her at all anymore."

Yeah she did. I want to be like her whenever my old ass grows the hell up ! :-D Maybe we don't see much of LisaGay, because she's already like Beah -- instead of Beyonce.

Thanx so much for checkin' in on me. Glad to 'see you' too! Hope to finish at least Part 1 of my "Home going" thoughts shortly (Yes, it'll be a few parts, as it was a rude-assed awakening!).

Peace back atcha...

Amenta...Hey! Thanx, Man -- though more back than well (emotionally anyway). So-o-o much shit has changed! And while I'm 100% with "progress," I kinda want it for e'erbody -- not just the, select, monied few. {smdh}

No worries, the posts are jockeying for position in my head right now but, I'm lettin' 'em out the gate shortly! :-D

Absolutely love this doc! It touches me every time and mos def gives me a sense of sisterhood/womanhood from a perspective clean of Hollywood caricatures and shallowness. That scene when she says that the world needs to hear what you have to say...I swear its like Im in the room....tears fall as she breathes, "the last words have not been spoken." Divine.

Jblu74...Welcome! And I totally co-sign everything you said, especiallyabout the "sense of sisterhood/womanhood from a perspective clean of Hollywood caricatures and shallowness," because Lawd knows we get more than a steady diet of just that these days!

Thanx for dropping in...
