Gustav, Katrina and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers

As we watch Gustav barrel toward New Orleans on this, the third anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, Mother Nature will most definitely exact the kind of accountability heretofore avoided by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE). The fact Gustav's course is opposite the track taken by Katrina, may well expose further incidents of shoddy work done by USACE - or not. We'll see.
Sending my constant prayers to those in the path of this storm...

So far, so good right? We'll see what happens overnght, but thank God it hasn't been nearly as bad as we were told it would get.

Glad you've peeked in at blogolandia. RELATIVELY speaking, the coast caught a little bit of a break this time.

Cynthia McKinney in a half-hour interview for Road to the White House, which is scheduled to air on Sunday, September 7 at 6:30 pm EST and again at 9:30 pm EST the same night.

Deb,

Please drop a quick note so we know you are alive and kicking. You've been gone a long time now.

ea...¡Gracias por su preocupaciĆ³n Chica! I'm all right though. I know I said a few weeks ago I was back and I was going to start catching up with my comments and publishing all these drafts I've begun but, I over-estimated the hell out of my ability to get into the swing of this whole move/find a job/school thing! My old brain is in over-drive and my body's in pain from the increased physical activity I tell you! A lot of reading, discussing and paper-writing. So far, I have an "A" but I've got to get better organized! Again, thanks for checking in on me. Oh, I missed the McKinney interview, is it on YouTube? I heard an interview on NPR with both McKinney and Clemente last month on NPR and it's just a damn shame the two-party system reigns in America!

Sugar...apologize for the delay in responding (see my comment to ea above) and yes, NOLA got by comparatively well this time.

anonymous...Thanx! I try to keep up with what's really going on through levees.org because they are committed, on a personal level, to getting the truth out and demanding accountability from those who are responsible for the devastation of Katrina.

I read, from a Venezuelan news source, that McKinney recently held a press conference and declared that 5,000 people were executed in Louisiana during the Katrina crisis. Has there been anything about this in the U.S. press?

ps: Glad you are okay. Eat well, exercise, and get enough rest and the stress of your current life situation will be manageable.

Re: McKinney interviews. I think most of the interviews have links from the campaign website: http://votetruth08.com

ea...Nope. The only MSM report i saw was this one from the Fox website: http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/10/02/mckinney-accuses-government-slaughtering-prisoners-dumping-bodies-katrina/ but the the blogosphere is in for their two cents with charges that she's crazy for spreading this rumor.

The Fox story pointed out, this could have been verified through prison records - that is, if there are any records left from which verification can be made! You'd think the MSMs, if for no other reason than to prove her wrong, would at least do SOME digging to debunk the "rumor." But then again, she's no Barack Obama and New Orleanians, well, truth in coverage for them has never been a top priority for the MSMs.
