Black Agenda Report's Glen Ford -- "We have Learned who is For Real and who is Frontin'."
In the tradition of (in no particular order) -- Garvey, Toussaint, Lumumba, the real -- Toure, Nkrumah, Winnie, Nat Turner, Martin, A. Philip Randolph, Septima Clarke, Romare Bearden, SNCC, Malcolm, Huey, Fred Hampton, Mumia, Assata, the revolutionary -- Angela; Harlem Renaissance writers and agitators (to name a few) -- Claude McKay, James Baldwin, Lorraine Hansberry, Richard Wright, Langston Hughes, Franz Fanon, Paul Laurence Dunbar, James Weldon Johnson, Ralph Ellison, W.E.B. DuBois, Zora Neale Hurston, Gwendolyn Brooks, Hubert Harrison, the pre-capitalist -- Ms. Angelou; Ida B. Wells, Paul Robeson, Drs. -- John Henrik Clarke, Ben Jochannan, John G. Jackson; George Padmore, Eric Williams, Egyptian hieroglyphics (yes, Egypt is in Africa); Tupac, KRS One, DeadPrez, Bob Marley, Lupe -- and the list goes on and on... Glen stands for something, rather than falling for anything.
What about you, Family?

Hey nomad! I was just musing as I listened to Glen, but I shall add Mr. Marley because he's definitely in point! Come to think of it, Lupe is too!
glad to see people like glen splainin to the people whats actually going on.
You and me both! I surely prefer hearing Glen's "Black Agenda Report" than from these greedy, self-important, couldn't-care-less clowns!: http://www.blackbluedog.com/2013/02/news/black-agenda-discussed-with-pres-obama-is-revealed/
Please tell me what the hayell kind of Black agenda is that?? This is why we don't get shit, we got folk who don't need shit, notasking for shit -- in our name! {smdh}
As the brotha Glen Ford noted in the speech that BeelzObama was able to arm twist the arms of paper tiger Black Caucus to go with the bailout. For the purposes of fattening the coffers of the international bankers.
Here is the crux of the problem. Most African Americans do not know who and what they are dealing with. If this machine can make African Americans mind's focus on white supremacy and racism only as the primary target, then we will miss the true problem, the real enemy.
But, if we focus on the international bankers, and their minions like BeelzObama then we may be able to awaken and fight the beast directly and not sideways. Brotha Ford exposes just this.
Hey Amenta!..."Here is the crux of the problem. Most African Americans do not know who and what they are dealing with."
I agree with you. As I said somewhere here before, I'm late to this critical thinking game my-damned-self. It took years for me to start seeing just how much shit I didn't know or even think about. So how do you propose we begin to help others (long before they get to be old as dirt!)?
"If this machine can make African Americans mind's focus on white supremacy and racism only as the primary target, then we will miss the true problem, the real enemy."
Appreciate the "only" qualifier because I don't see it as an "either or," but a "both, and" as in -- both economic oppression and white supremacy/racism definitely play a role in all this and, ignoring either component, is something we ALL do at our peril.
That said, I agree WE definitely need to "awaken" to the machinations of the international banksters and especially their minions. But, after having had the capitalism Joker in our deck of cards, miseducating Black folk from day one -- do you really see a mass re-education happening In your lifetime? I certainly don't in mine. Hell, I'd consider it a small victory if most of us could manage to stop acting like Pavlov's dogs, every time Black Friday, or some other corporate-assed, monthly holiday rolls around, spending money we don't really have -- and do something better with our money!
I'm interested in hearing more about if you think that global white supremacy is the engine that drives everything else or if you think that economic exploitation is the driving force? Imo, I believe the former is the driving force & the latter is just a tool of subjugation & exploitation. I tend to agree with Dr. Welsing's assessment of what drives whites to behave in the manner they do. I'm interested in hearing your opinions.
"BeelzObama"! Good one. Gon check out Amenta.
"I'm interested in hearing more about if you think that global white supremacy is the engine that drives everything else or if you think that economic exploitation."
I think it's the latter. Racial division is their most effective tool, however. That's how they keep us from seeing the real enemy.
Anon...(Still not choosing a name for me to call you, huh?)
"I'm interested in hearing more about if you think that global white supremacy is the engine that drives everything else or if you think that economic exploitation is the driving force? Imo, I believe the former is the driving force & the latter is just a tool of subjugation & exploitation."
As I told Amenta, "Appreciate the "only" qualifier because I don't see it as an "either or," but a "both, and" ... ignoring either component, is something we ALL do at our peril."
That said, however, I agree with you and Dr. Cress Welsing because I don't care how much cash a Black person has or makes, no matter what "position" in society to which he/she rises -- the "global" engine of the White Supremacist Capitalist Patriarchy can and does uses its tools of economic subjugation and exploitation to try to maintain their supremacy (since it seems the writing's on the wall for their genetic annihilation!). Hell, her idea of the Global Dred Scott decision is as evident today as it ever was! All we need do is look around the world to confirm that. Which is why IMHO, we must thoroughly understand them both!
nomad..that's my answer to you as well.
You can just call me Mau..lol..when you say the 'global dred scott decision'..do you mean that a black man has no rights that a white man is bound to respect?
Great Mau! And yes, that's exactly what I meant. I prefaced it with global (as Dr. Welsing has) because it has been applied to non-white people all over the world! "You got some shit we want; we can and will take it!"
I don't know about you, but, with the exception of Nuremberg (which didn't get the ringleaders cuz they "got" themselves so to speak) , I've seen few, if any white folk -- nor those who've "become white" as Baldwin pointed out -- punished for trampling upon the rights of any non-white folk either nationally, or internationally!
Hey, Deb, how you doin'?
Missed this video when it was originally posted, but I have come to the wrestling analogy conclusion myself on many occasions. It's all a sham scam, hype and spin, "psst, Mister, wanna buy a..." "have I got a car for you!" hustle routine. Unfortunately, as long as smiling handsome used car and Popeil Pocket Fisherman salesmen keep moving the pea around and hiding the black Queen, gullible bus riders and carny goers will keep shelling out ducats and calling themselves entertained while they "take a shot." A fair, and equal shot.
Doo dah.
My thoughts are that economic exploitation is the engine that drives everything. From that was created white supremacy. IMO.
Enslaving aboriginal peoples was another cog in the wheel of economic exploitation. Many of the "pink" Europeans know that they are decendants of Moors and Saracens and even dipict them on their family crests.
However, by no means am I saying white supremacy and racism are not real and that we don't have to deal with them.
But, IMHO, it is our health that we must battle for. It is our dietary regimen that we must get a hold of and win this battle. Secondly, it is our minds that we have to elevate (and sadly Deb I am not so sure mass re-education will occur in my life time) which plays hand in hand with our dietary regimen. What is the point of being free, liberated, separated (if thats anyone's goal) and living as we will if we are sick?
Just in case there is any doubt about what we are offered to eat here are a couple links.

Marsha...Hey Woman! I did reply to your comment, but I don't know what happened to it. I'm well, and you?
"Unfortunately...gullible bus riders and carny goers will keep shelling out ducats and calling themselves entertained while they "take a shot." A fair, and equal shot."
Unfortunately is right, particularly since in the shelling out, they fail to realize that the "shot" is never fair, nor equal ("Popeil Pocket Fisherman salesmen" -- too funny! Is Popeil still even alive??).
Speaking of "being entertained" -- I think Bill Maher is a dick, but I still occasionally watch his show depending whose on. A couple weeks ago, he had a young Indian woman on who made a very profound and truthful observation. She said, "Americans are the most entertained and least informed people in the world!" And she ain't never lied, I tell you!
Amenta...Well you already know what I think -- "both and" not "either or," 'nuf said.
" Many of the "pink" Europeans know that they are decendants of Moors and Saracens and even dipict them on their family crests."
Of course they know! And I believe racism/white supremacy/Manifest Destiny all had to do with the whole "whitening up" of those family lines (did you check out that, "Blue Blood is Black Blood" post?). I thought I shared it with you, but if not, food for thought:

Now I'm -- very unhealthily at this time -- with you on that (and glad to know we at least agree on that mass re-education thing, for whatever reasons!)
"Just in case there is any doubt about what we are offered to eat here are a couple links."
Yeah, no -- I didn't need to hear about the "aborted fetuses." Well I did, but, damn!
I'd read about the "Frankenfish" before (and Lawd knows I love salmon stuffed with shrimp and crab meat, a family dish that's been passed down ever since we did our own shrimpin' and caught our own crabs with string, a chicken neck and a net! -- And don't you even start about the "scavengers among us!" :-D) and COULD NOT BELIEVE the excuses given by those we count on to supposedly "ensure that what we eat is safe (dolla, dolla bills y'all!"). Funny you should bring this up. I was just watching this from Global research TV: http://youtu.be/8vzSA5rBM20
Now this is economic exploitation writ large!!
Peace, Brother; I appreciate the convo -- as always
LOL...No I won't say anything about the bottom feeders...Because every now and then I have to have them myself. Quiet as it's kept people from Mississippi make and love gumbo and being that my parents are from the Mi crooked letter...me loves me gumbo...LOL...
But here is what you said that is sooooo soooo key "... ever since we did our own shrimpin' and caught our own crabs with string, a chicken neck and a net! -- " That is the real. Them there days is gone for most of us City folk.
I will try again on the Blue Bloods. I attempted to go to one site that u gave me but it was invite only. I requested an invitation tho.
I think in time you will overcome what you call unhealthy. It is a must. I suspect we are in the same age group, just that I grew up in Southern Cal and you on a South Carolina Island correct? Part of my early life was spent in Memphis, Tenn. There my grandmother had a huge garden that the community would come and plant and pick. Also the vegetable man and fish man would come around selling food. So I was fortunate enough to eat some "real" food in my life and time, but not so sure about our children.
See, when you look at food alone, there is really no white supremacy there. This "feed" is being sold to everyone, black, brown, white, yellow, purple, green... No matter the race the U.S. is sickening all her people. And, We are being affected the most. And I believe that part of that is due to us not eating like our ancestors, whether we believe they are from the South Pacific,Africa, the Americas or Europe.
Peace Sistah
Amenta (Pt. 1)...I know that's right!!
"But here is what you said that is sooooo soooo key... That is the real."
Yeah it is. Fortunately, my grandmother realized the importance of "the land." As she got older, she divided her land among her children who wanted some. So, whenever I want, I can still go out in the "crik" and crab, fish and shrimp away! Last time home, we went out to my uncle's and had a blast! Jumping off the little shrimping boat, I fell face first in the mud -- and loved every minute of it! No shame in my game, went back about knee-deep in the water, washed off the mud, and proceeded to the concrete slab under the house (it's on stilts) to do a serious "Lowcountry Boil!" Looking forward to doing more of that this year. But you're right -- "Them there days is gone for most of us City folk." And quiet as its kept, the "pinks" are steadily inching us out on the island as well.
Good on the Blue Bloods, pretty interesting stuff!
"I think in time you will overcome what you call unhealthy. It is a must. I suspect we are in the same age group, just that I grew up in Southern Cal and you on a South Carolina Island correct?"
That's my goal, Man and yes, it IS a must (appreciate the encouragement)! If you're slidin' toward 60 in a few years, then we are! My mother was the oldest and the first to move to "the city" from the island, so we lived "in town," went to the island most every weekend and spent all our summers out there as well -- it was a rural/urban upbringing. Not only did my grandmother have her own fields from which she sold her produce from a stand in front of the house, but all her kids, and then grandkids, earned money picking in a "pink's" fields as well. I was too slow at that, I worked the stand. But I agree, our children are missing that kind of "real" food. (cont.)
Amenta (Pt. 2)..."See, when you look at food alone, there is really no white supremacy there"
I wish I could agree but (what did you expect? "Both, and" remember? :-D), though "the U.S. is sickening all her people"; you, yourself followed with, "We are being affected the most" -- and we are. I agree that it's partially due to, "us not eating like our ancestors", but also due to the non-availability of affordable, fresh, "real" food in the hood! As for eating like our ancestors, I was just sitting here watching "Our America" with Lisa Ling on OWN (what can I say, I'm still weaning my ass off TV) and, what was the topic? "Obesity in America," particularly in the South. And who's getting the most negative slant? Black folk -- in Mi crooked letter! I shit you not! Her commentary is all about how "the culture of Soul Food," "eating like our ancestors," is killing our children (Lawd, do I hear Chimamanda Adichie's, "Danger of a Single Story" ringing in my damned head)!
Then, it went off. I switched to the local news and they're talking about the controversy over "The Eat Right 4 Your Type" new diet which says if you're type "O" -- YOU NEED TO EAT LIKE YOUR ANCESTORS! But not us...
Let me leave you with some of Adichie's observations:
"...So that is how to create a single story; show a people as one thing, as only one thing, over and over again, and that is what they become.
It is impossible to talk about the single story without talking about power. There is a word, an Igbo word, that I think about whenever I think of the power structures of the world and it is "nkali," it's a noun that loosely translates to -- "to be greater than another." Like our economic and political worlds, stories, too are defined, by the principal of "nkali." how they are told, who tells them, when they are told, how many stories are told -- are really dependent on power.
Power is the ability not just to tell the story of another person but to make it the definitive story of that person."
There's plenty of white supremacy not only in the "feed," but in the "story" of the feed as well, my Brother.
Peace...
